For a city of its size, Cardiff is lucky to attract major events throughout the year. Using its capital status, major sporting and music events are all held at the Millennium Stadium. The Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Arena and St David's Hall also bring in national events to the city.
Sport and music dominate Cardiff events with the national rugby and football teams playing most home matches in the Principality Stadium. International music artists too are attracted to the stadium because of its retractable roof.

During major events at the Principality Stadium such as the Six Nations rugby tournament, many roads in the area are closed and the only through route is south of the city.
