Boat Tour: City Centre (South)
Granta Place, Cambridge. CB2 1RS • (01223) 359750
Scudamore's is the main provider of boating in Cambridge controlling the majority of all punts in the city. They offer punting tours of the city or you can explore the river yourself and hire one of their punts, kayaks, Canadian canoes or row boats.
Punts are available from two boating stations located in the city centre. In the south, the Mill Lane Punting Station next to Silver Street bridge is close to their main boatyard on Granta Place. In the north, the Quayside Punting Station is next to Magdalene Street bridge and Jesus Green.
The popular choice for tourists in Cambridge is the Backs Tour which is a return trip on the River Cam between Silver Street and Magdalene Street bridges on a traditional punt. This gives a fairly good view of the private buildings, bridges (including the Bridge of Sighs at St John's) and gardens of the University. From the Mill Lane Punting Station in the south you can also hire boats to travel to Grantchester.
