Moor Street was originally a station for the Great Western Railway, built for services terminating before the Snow Hill tunnel. The main station buildings were completed in 1914. From the 1960s the station went through many changes including the transfer of platforms to the through services railway lines, leading to the decay of the original buildings. In 2002 the original Moor Street station building and platforms were renovated at a cost of £11 million and the terminal platforms 3 and 4 re-opened at the end of 2010.
