Birmingham Metro System

Midland Metro
Midland Metro

The first Midland Metro line opened in 1999. An electrically powered tram system, it was built on the old railway line between Birmingham Snow Hill railway station and Wolverhampton via the towns of West Bromwich and Wednesbury.

The line operates through the centre of Birmingham from Snow Hill railway station to New Street railway station, extending to Broad Street and Five Ways, with plans for new lines to Birmingham Eastside and towards Birmingham Airport.
