Yard, Cardiff Yard Late Bar
St Mary Street, Cardiff
Brain's Flag-ship bar was once the old Brain's brewery's pub and shop, The Albert. The old pub sign is all that's left of the history - hanging out of place next to the entrance bar. Stripped back to exposed walls it's quite big and spread over two levels. Food was good, although they didn't have much of the menu left and we had to ask for the tables to be cleared. The drinks are pretty pricey - £16 for a pint and two doubles!

Copa, Cardiff Copa Bar

Now a Lloydd's No 1 bar, this pretty big place is unique in the way it has uncovered lighted candles randomly scattered around the place! Popular at weekends for its cheap drinks. (Formerly Bushpig, Old Monk)

Prince of Wales, Cardiff Prince of Wales Modern Pub (Wetherspoon)
St Mary Street, Cardiff
Wetherspoon's first pub in Cardiff, and probably their biggest. Set in an old theatre the building itself is impressive, but the atmosphere and tardy bar service let it down big time. Still popular though for its cheap drinks and food.
